Continue after a runtime error trapped by ON ERROR GOTO.
RESUME RESUME NEXT RESUME line
line - a line number or label to continue at
RESUME returns to the line that raised the error, RESUME NEXT continues at the following line, and RESUME line jumps to the given line. RESUME clears the “handling” state so a later error is trapped again. Calling RESUME when no error is active is an error.
If the error was raised inside a SUB or FUNCTION, entering the handler unwinds the call stack first, so the handler sees the enclosing scope rather than the routine’s LOCAL variables. RESUME line then continues at that named line at the outer level. RESUME NEXT and bare RESUME also continue at the outer level: the remainder of the routine runs without its frame and reaching its END SUB / END FUNCTION ends the program instead of returning to the caller. When the failing line belongs to a routine, prefer RESUME line.
Example:
10 ON ERROR GOTO 100
20 A = 1 / 0
30 PRINT "continued"
40 END
100 PRINT "error trapped"
110 RESUME NEXT
