PACKAGE

command

Zip the contents of a folder into a package file (ZIP store). Paths inside the archive are relative to that folder. folder$ must contain MAIN.BAS.

PACKAGE pkg$, folder$

pkg$ - output package path (e.g. GAME.APP) folder$ - folder to zip (must contain MAIN.BAS)

If pkg$ exists at the prompt: File exists, overwrite? [Y/n]. Empty or Y overwrites; N leaves the file. From a running program a collision is ?FILE EXISTS. RUN “name.app” mounts the zip read-only as B: and runs MAIN.BAS. B: is not listed by DRIVE and cannot be selected in FILES or CHDIR at the prompt. After RUN, EDIT does not open the zip file.

Wizard

Type PACKAGE with no arguments at the prompt to open the authoring wizard as a modal dialog over the prompt. It walks through the same rules as the command form so you do not have to remember the syntax:

  1. Choose folder - lists subfolders of the current folder, and “.”
for the current folder. Entries without MAIN.BAS are flagged and
cannot be packaged.
  1. Name and optional metadata - the package name defaults to
<folder>.APP. Title and author are optional and are stored in a
PACKAGE.INF file inside the archive.
  1. Confirm - writes the .APP in the current folder.

Keys: Up/Down move, Enter selects or advances, Tab moves between fields in step 2, Esc goes back (or cancels from step 1). Esc from the first step closes the dialog and restores the prompt. Use CHDIR first to reach another folder or drive. PACKAGE with arguments still works from a program.

Example:

PACKAGE "GAME.APP", "GAME/"
RUN "GAME.APP"
