AFK

command

Show a Win31 “Mystify”-style screensaver: two polygons of points bounce around the screen, leaving fading trails of connecting lines. It takes no arguments and runs until you exit. Colours follow OPTION THEME (set A is the menu hot colour, set B the string colour).

AFK

(no arguments)

AFK switches to MODE 12 (960x540), or MODE 19 (1366x768) when the console is already in MODE 19 or 20 (the Chromebook panel sizes), renders each frame into a hidden page and flips it into view on the vertical blank (no tearing), and restores the previous mode and bits when it exits. As with the other full-screen apps, PAGE WRITE, PAGE DISPLAY and the framebuffer target return to 0 (so the prompt is never left on a hidden page).

Controls:

Enter exit and return to the prompt
Ctrl+C exit (the break key)

Lock screen:

OPTION AFK PASSWORD "pass$" arm the lock; FORGET disarms it.

With a password set, pressing any key stops the animation and shows a small password box. Typed characters appear as `*`. Enter checks the input: the correct password exits AFK, a wrong one clears the box and stays locked. Esc cancels the dialog and resumes the animation (any later key re-arms the lock). Ctrl+C no longer exits while the lock is armed. The password is stored as a hash in .mmbasic.ini and is never printed by OPTION LIST; this is a deterrent, not real security.

Example:

AFK
OPTION AFK PASSWORD "open sesame"
OPTION AFK PASSWORD FORGET
