MM.HOST.VRES

command

Return the height of the host display that the current graphics mode is shown on, in pixels.

height = MM.HOST.VRES

On a Raspberry Pi this is the HDMI resolution, which MODE changes. On the Linux/macOS native build it is the window (windowed) or the full display (fullscreen), which can be larger than the mode; the mode is then integer-scaled into it and centred, with black borders filling the rest.

Use it to pick a MODE that suits the screen. A mode that divides the host resolution by a whole number scales up crisply.

See also MM.HOST.HRES, MM.VRES, MODE.

Example:

PRINT MM.HOST.HRES, MM.HOST.VRES
IF MM.HOST.VRES >= 1024 THEN MODE 15
