OPTION

command

Change interpreter settings. Settings persist across reboots. FACTORY_RESET restores defaults.

OPTION setting … OPTION LIST [ALL] OPTION RESET

Settings: BASE 0|1 EXPLICIT [ON|OFF] DEFAULT INTEGER|FLOAT|STRING|NONE DEFAULT MODE n DEFAULT COLOURS fg [, bg]

Default MODE is 11 (1280x720).

ANGLE DEGREES|RADIANS Y_AXIS UP|DOWN TAB 2|3|4|8 BREAK n AUTORUN ON|OFF

(BREAK n is the cooked key; PrtScr always breaks)

AUTOSAVE ON|OFF

Periodic crash-resume checkpoint of a dirty named buffer in EDIT and
WORDPAD to a <file>.rec sidecar (default ON, about once a minute). OFF
disables only the periodic checkpoint; saving on leave still writes the
real file.

COLOURCODE ON|OFF|REVERSE CONSOLE SCREEN|SERIAL|BOTH|NONE|SAVE|PORT n CRLF CRLF|CR|LF BAUDRATE n CASE UPPER|LOWER|TITLE LEGACY ON|OFF MILLISECONDS ON|OFF MOUSE OFF|n [, sens] PIN n PROFILING ON|OFF TRACECACHE ON|OFF PROMPT BARE|CWD immediate prompt (see PROMPT)

CWD (default) is DOS $p$g: drive and path then >, e.g. A:/> or A:/PRDIR>.
BARE is "> ". OPTION LIST shows BARE when selected; LIST ALL always shows
the mode.

RAM FLASH [page] STATUS ON|OFF VCC n SLEEP n SD TIMING FAST|NORMAL SERIAL PULLUP ENABLE|DISABLE RTC CALIBRATE n DS3231 ON|OFF BASELINE ON|OFF USBKEYBOARD US|UK|DE|FR|ES [, NOLED] KEYBOARD REPEAT first [, next]

Default 300,75 ms (first delay, then repeat).

EDIT FONT SMALL|NORMAL|MEDIUM|LARGE|VERY LARGE EDIT THEME name|n|SYSTEM

Editor-only theme override; SYSTEM follows OPTION THEME (default).

THEME name|n (10 system-wide colour themes; default Slate) ESCAPE SEARCH PATH path$ ERROR CONTINUE|ABORT PATH “dir$[;dir$…]”

Directories searched for .APP packages (default A:/APPS/). See PATH,
APPS and the Ctrl+Space picker. The picker labels a package with its
stored Title, falling back to the file name without .APP.

BOOT REPL|LAUNCHER|“app$”

What to do at power-on (default REPL). See BOOT.

F1..F12 string$ AUDIO ON|OFF AUDIO_TARGET HDMI|JACK (HDMI0 or 3.5mm PWM jack) AUDIO TARGET HDMI|JACK (same) AFK PASSWORD “pass$”|FORGET

Arm the AFK screensaver lock: any key stops the animation and asks for the
password before AFK exits. The password is stored as a hash in
.mmbasic.ini and is never printed by OPTION LIST. FORGET removes it.
A deterrent, not real security. See AFK.

DISPLAY/LCDPANEL/TOUCH/SDCARD/RESOLUTION/CLOCK/ CPUSPEED/HEARTBEAT WIFI [ssid$ [, password$]]

No args: connect with the stored credentials (error if none). With args:
store credentials and join with WPA2. WIFI SCAN scans for networks and
prompts (needs radio).

WIFI COUNTRY “XX”

Set the Wi-Fi regulatory domain (default US; use GB for United Kingdom).
Unknown codes are rejected.

WIFI DEBUG ON|OFF

Print [wifi] progress on HDMI and serial. Default OFF. The password is
never printed.

ETHERNET ON|OFF

Use the Ethernet port. ON starts DHCP and turns off Wi-Fi auto-join. OFF
leaves the cable unused (reboot to free the stack if Ethernet is already
up). Only one of Wi-Fi or Ethernet is active. The setting is saved across
reboots.

NTP AUTO|ON|OFF

Sync the clock from the network at boot (best-effort). AUTO (the default)
turns NTP on whenever Ethernet or Wi-Fi is up, staying quiet and retrying
while offline. OFF disables it; ON forces it on.

NTP SERVER “host[:port]”

Server for NTP (default pool.ntp.org, port 123).

TIMEZONE “name”

Local zone for DATE$/TIME$/DATETIME$ (default UTC; no daylight saving).
See TIMEZONE.

NETWORK DRIVE “\\host\share[\sub]” [, “user” [, “pass”]]

Mount an SMB2/3 share (Samba or Windows) as drive Z:. The host may carry
a non-default port, e.g. "\\host:4455\share". Backslashes and forward
slashes are both accepted, as are doubled backslashes and the smb://
scheme; the value is normalised to a UNC and validated immediately. An
optional sub-folder after the share becomes the root of Z:. USER and PASS
are optional: with neither, Z: connects as a guest. A DOMAIN\user form is
accepted. The password is stored as its NTLM hash (ntlm:<hex>) in
.mmbasic.ini and is never printed by OPTION LIST, DIR or error messages.
The share is opened on first use of Z:, with a timeout and Ctrl-C to
abort; DRIVE and OPTION LIST never connect. OPTION RESET keeps the saved
share, like it keeps Wi-Fi credentials.

NETWORK DRIVE

Reconnect the stored share immediately.

NETWORK DRIVE OFF

Forget the stored share and drop the connection.
Limitations: SMB 2.02 to 3.1.1 only (no SMB1), NTLMv2 authentication, and
no encryption. Guest access needs the server to map guests (for example
Samba's "map to guest = Bad User"); Windows 11 blocks insecure guest
logons by default. See DRIVE.

TERM LOG ON|OFF

Write session traffic to C:/.termlog (A: if no SD). Default OFF.

TERM AUTOLOG ON|OFF

Start a fresh TERM log automatically for each new session. Default OFF.

TERM SCROLLBACK n

Lines of TERM history kept for Page Up / search. Default 200, 0 off.

ERROR CONTINUE sets the persistent RUN default: a runtime error skips the failing statement and continues with the next one, keeps the SUB/FUNCTION call stack, and sets MM.ERRNO and MM.ERRMSG$ silently. It is the same behaviour as ON ERROR IGNORE, but lasts across RUNs. ERROR ABORT is the default and stops the program on the first untrapped error. An explicit ON ERROR GOTO, SKIP, IGNORE or ABORT overrides this default for the current RUN; SKIP returns to it when its count expires, plain ON ERROR restores it, and ON ERROR ABORT overrides it until the next RUN. The setting does not change immediate-mode errors, which always abort.
