GETTING STARTED
What mmcore is and how to reach the prompt.
Getting started
mmcore is a keyboard-based environment built around MMBasic (Geoff Graham’s BASIC dialect). On a Raspberry Pi it boots straight to the > prompt in a few seconds. No Linux desktop underneath.
Built-in apps
From the prompt, type a command or press Ctrl+Space for the APPS launcher. Each built-in app has a page:
- EDIT, colour TUI code editor
- FILES, dual-pane file manager
- WORDPAD, markdown editor with a centred text column
- PAINT, mouse-driven pixel paint
- JUKE, music player
- PACKAGE, wizard that zips a folder into a runnable .APP
- TERM, fullscreen telnet terminal
- HELP, interactive manual
- SETTINGS, brightness, volume, theme and network status
Where to go next
- Install on Raspberry Pi · SD card images per board.
- Framebuffer and live ISO · x86_64 text console and bootable USB.
- Download · latest release assets for every platform.
Source and full manuals live in the mmcore repository.
