Dual-pane file browser that previews images, audio, fonts and text.
FILESFILES
WHAT IT DOES
FILES opens the dual-pane file manager, not a DIR listing. Enter on a directory opens it. Enter on a .BAS file RUNs it. View (v or F3) previews PNG and JPG, plays MP3, XM and MOD when supported, opens .ANS, .ASC and .DIZ through an ANSI viewer, previews .TDF fonts, and shows .BAS, .INC and .TXT with colour.
Tab switches panes. q or Esc leaves FILES. Menus are Alt+L Left, Alt+F File, Alt+C Command, Alt+O Options and Alt+R Right. Colours follow OPTION THEME.
FEATURES
Image preview
An image preview reads the picture size, switches to the smallest graphics MODE that fits it, and draws it centred with the file name and its dimensions along the top. Left and Right step through the other images in the folder. Enter or Esc returns to the file manager and restores the previous MODE.
ANSI preview
An ANSI preview interprets the file as a VT100/ANSI terminal would, using IBM VGA CP437 glyphs and the standard 16-colour palette on a black screen. Lines auto-wrap at 80 columns. Up and Down scroll a row, and Page Up and Page Down scroll a page. F toggles the authentic 80x25 view (MODE 2, 640x400) and F again returns to the MODE the preview opened in.
TDF preview
A .TDF preview decodes the TheDraw font with the same decoder as the native TDF commands and draws a specimen: the font name, then printable ASCII 33 to 126. It uses the current MODE character grid. Up and Down scroll taller fonts. Left and Right cycle variations. A file that is not a valid .TDF falls back to the file-info overlay.
Copy and move
Copy (5 or C) and Move (6 or M) work on the selected file or folder. A folder is copied or moved with its whole tree, empty nests included, into the destination shown in the prompt (seeded from the other pane). A cross-drive move copies and then deletes the source.
FTP server
The Command menu, or s in the F9 menu, has FTP server. It serves the active pane folder over FTP on port 21, with passive data on port 1021, using the current address from IPCONFIG. A modal dialog shows the root and address. Esc stops the server. Requests cannot escape the chosen folder. Uploading to a path whose folders do not exist yet creates them under the served folder.
