PAINT

WHAT IT DOES

PAINT opens a blank canvas, with tools down the side and colours along the bottom. Draw with the mouse, then save the picture.

It needs a mouse. If no pointer is found, PAINT tells you and returns to the prompt.

FEATURES

• Drawing

  Click and drag to draw. Lines, boxes, circles and ellipses follow the mouse until you let go. Hold Shift to keep a box square, a circle round, or a line at a clean angle.

• Colours

  Pick a brush colour and a second colour from the palette along the bottom. The left button paints with the brush colour, and the right button paints with the other. Click the colour indicator to swap them.

• Fill

  Fill a solid area with the current colour, or pick a colour straight off the picture.

• Save

  Start a fresh canvas, open a picture you saved, or save the one on screen. Undo and redo are there if you want to step back.

KEYS

• Left click swatchSelect the foreground.
• Right click swatchSelect the background.
• Click the indicatorSwap foreground and background.
• Left drag / Right dragDraw with the foreground or the background.
• ShiftConstrain line, rectangle, ellipse and circle to a square, a circle, or 45 degrees.
• EscClose a menu, or leave PAINT and return to the prompt.
• Alt+XLeave PAINT and return to the prompt.
